30 Years On: Songs for a New World Celebrates Anniversary with One-Night London Concert

26-07-25

“It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back.” That’s how Songs for a New World begins. This September, the beloved song cycle returns to the London stage for a landmark concert event marking 30 years since its premiere.

Presented at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, the anniversary concert will be performed twice on Sunday 21 September 2025, with a cast featuring Shoshana Bean, Tituss Burgess, Jordan Fisher, and Joy Woods. The final cast is subject to change.

Written in 1995, Songs for a New World was Jason Robert Brown’s first musical, and over the years it has gained a devoted following for its blend of theatrical storytelling and emotional urgency. Unlike a traditional book musical, it unfolds as a series of vignettes—each character caught at a pivotal moment, facing a decision or reckoning.

Audiences are taken through snapshots of lives in motion, linked by a shared sense of risk and transformation. From the deck of a 15th-century ship to the edge of a New York City high-rise, the show jumps through time and place, tethered by its resonant themes: change, hope, uncertainty, and the search for something better.

This new staging is directed by Michael Longhurst, with Jason Robert Brown returning to conduct his own score. His presence will undoubtedly add a layer of immediacy to a production that already thrives on raw, in-the-moment energy.

The concert is produced by Lambert Jackson and Positive Sum. Tickets are now on sale for both the 3pm and 7.30pm performances. Get more details from the official site HERE.
