Miranda Priestly would approve: The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical is getting its long-awaited Original Cast Recording, dropping 19 September on CD, digital, and LP via Island EMI. And yes, you can already hit pre-order.

But fashion waits for no one, so today brings a taste of what’s to come: ‘Miranda Girl’, a new single performed by Georgie Buckland (Andy in the West End hit). The track arrives with a music video, giving fans their first proper listen to Elton John’s couture-sharp score outside the Dominion Theatre.

Since opening last year, Prada has been strutting past box office records, becoming the fastest-selling show in the Dominion’s history. With Elton John on music, Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick on lyrics, and Jerry Mitchell directing and choreographing, it’s little wonder audiences can’t get enough.

The album boasts all 18 songs from the West End cast, featuring Vanessa Williams (Miranda), Matt Henry MBE (Nigel), Amy Di Bartolomeo (Emily), Rhys Whitfield (Nate), and James Darch (Christian). The CD and digital editions also include two previously unheard Elton John demos — ‘I Mean Business’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ — sketches that became the blueprint for the score. LP collectors will find a curated set of 12 tracks pressed to vinyl.

Elton himself calls the project “a no-brainer,” adding that Prada demanded a “modern, contemporary score” and that writing it left him with “a joyous feeling.” Fans can finally hear how those first demo sparks grew into full-scale showstoppers.

Prada’s design team is as star-studded as its cast: Kate Wetherhead (book), Tim Hatley (sets), Gregg Barnes (costumes), Bruno Poet (lighting), and Gareth Owen (sound), with casting by Jill Green CDG. Together they’ve built a musical that’s stylish, satirical, and just a little bit wicked — the kind that makes you want to upgrade your wardrobe on the way out.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel and the 2006 film that grossed over $326 million worldwide, The Devil Wears Prada is proving that fashion, ambition, and Elton John’s pop-theatrical touch really do never go out of style.
