Andrew Garfield performs ‘The Family Song’, the lead single from the original motion picture soundtrack to The Magic Faraway Tree, now in cinemas across the UK.

The track is released alongside the film and features Garfield in his role as Tim. It marks a return to musical performance following his work on Tick, Tick… Boom!, which is already part of the Matinee playlist.

The soundtrack has been composed and produced by Isabella Summers, also known as the creative force behind Florence + The Machine. The score accompanies the film’s narrative, with twelve tracks written to reflect the different settings and story beats within the film.

‘The Family Song’ is positioned as the focus track of the release. The music is by Summers, with lyrics written by director Ben Gregor, who also directed the film. The track forms part of the wider soundtrack, which is available now via Abbey Road Recordings.

The Magic Faraway Tree is adapted from Enid Blyton’s book, with a screenplay by Simon Farnaby. The film stars Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield, alongside a voice cast including Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri-Burns and Rebecca Ferguson.

The film follows a family who relocate to the English countryside and discover a magical tree that leads to a series of fantasy worlds. The soundtrack supports the film’s narrative and settings across those sequences.

The film was released nationwide on 27 March, with the soundtrack available to stream and download now.
