Wicked Celebrates 15th Birthday in London’s West End admin
09-07-26
Brian Conley is set to step back into one of his most celebrated stage roles, returning as the eccentric inventor Doc Brown when Back to the Future The Musical arrives at Milton Keynes Theatre next February as part of its first ever UK tour.
The stage and screen favourite, who previously earned praise for his performance in the West End production at London’s Adelphi Theatre, will star opposite Australian performer Axel Duffy as Marty McFly during the Milton Keynes run from 9 to 27 February 2027.

Conley’s return marks the latest chapter for a musical that has become one of the biggest theatrical success stories of recent years. After closing in London’s West End earlier this year following a record-breaking five-year run, the production is now taking its spectacular DeLorean, iconic soundtrack and eye-popping stage effects across the UK.
Speaking about his return, Conley said: “There’s something incredibly special about taking this production on the road and sharing the magic, and I’m looking forward to bringing it to Milton Keynes Theatre. Whether you’re seeing Back to the Future The Musical for the first time or returning for another ride, I promise you’re in for 1.21 gigawatts of fun. Great Scott! I can’t wait to fire up the DeLorean again!”
Conley has built an impressive musical theatre career alongside his television success. His stage credits include 9 to 5 The Musical, Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Jolson, which earned him an Olivier Award nomination, Me and My Girl, Barnum and Oliver!. Television audiences will also know him from The Brian Conley Show, The Grimleys, EastEnders and a record eight appearances on The Royal Variety Performance.
Fans hoping to catch Conley in the role should note that he will not perform on Saturday 13 February or Sunday 14 February 2027, when an alternate Doc Brown will take to the stage.
The tour begins at Bristol Hippodrome in October 2026, where original Broadway and West End star Roger Bart will reprise the role before continuing in Edinburgh. Casting for Doc Brown in the remaining tour venues is yet to be announced.
Based on the beloved 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future The Musical features a book by Bob Gale, with new music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard alongside much-loved songs from the film including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.
The production has become a worldwide phenomenon since its 2020 premiere, with more than five million people seeing the musical across productions in the UK, North America, Japan, Germany and aboard Royal Caribbean cruises. A French production is also on the horizon, underlining the show’s continuing global popularity as it embarks on its first nationwide UK adventure.
