Darren Day leads Million Dollar Quartet as Barn Theatre production transfers to London

The Barn Theatre’s acclaimed production of Million Dollar Quartet is heading to London this autumn, with Darren Day reprising his role as legendary record producer Sam Phillips.

The production will play a strictly limited season at The Arts at Marble Arch: powered by TodayTix from 4 September to 6 December 2026, with a press night on 15 September. Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, Million Dollar Quartet is inspired by the extraordinary true story of the night Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins found themselves together at Sun Records in Memphis. On 4 December 1956, the four musicians came together for an impromptu recording session which became one of the most famous moments in rock ’n’ roll history. The musical recreates that night and features a string of classics including “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Fever”, “Walk The Line” and “Hound Dog”.

Darren Day will transfer with the production as Sam Phillips, the Sun Records founder and producer who played a pivotal role in the careers of all four musicians. Further casting for the London run will be announced shortly.

The transfer follows an extended summer season at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester and continues the theatre’s Built By Barn programme, which develops productions in the Cotswolds before taking them to wider audiences.

Other recent Built By Barn productions include I’m Sorry Prime Minister, I Can’t Quite Remember, which went on to a West End run and UK tour, while a UK tour of The King’s Speech is also forthcoming.

Barn Theatre CEO and Artistic Director Iwan Lewis said: “Million Dollar Quartet has blown the roof off the Barn Theatre, and now it’s ready to rock London!

“We’re thrilled to be working with Steve Spiegel and TRW Production to bring another Barn Theatre hit to the capital.”

Million Dollar Quartet, written by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, first opened on Broadway in 2010, receiving three Tony Award nominations and winning Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis.

It made its West End premiere at the Noël Coward Theatre in 2011 and later returned to London during a UK tour in 2016 and 2017.

The Barn Theatre production features choreography by Joanna Goodwin, set and costume design by Libby Watson, lighting by Alex Musgrave, sound design by Nick Lodge and musical supervision by Lee Freeman.
