Hannah Waddingham to Host Saturday Night Live UK

Matinee favourite Hannah Waddingham will host one of the final episodes of Saturday Night Live UK, bringing her musical theatre background to the live comedy format.

Waddingham will host the 9 May episode, joined by musical guest Myles Smith. The episode forms part of the final run of the show’s debut UK series.

Best known to many for her Emmy-winning role in Ted Lasso, Waddingham has long been a major presence on the stage. Her theatre credits include leading roles in Spamalot, The Beautiful Game, The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium and Kiss Me, Kate, alongside a wide range of concert performances, Eurovision and televised musical appearances. She’s well placed for the demands of a fast-paced, live broadcast format such as Saturday Night Live UK.

The 9 May show will see Waddingham take on hosting duties across the 75-minute live episode, working alongside the programme’s core cast. Musical guest Myles Smith joins the line-up following his recent BRIT Award success.

The following week, on 16 May, Ncuti Gatwa will host the final episode of the series, with music from Holly Humberstone.

Saturday Night Live UK has featured a range of high-profile hosts across its first season, including Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall and Nicola Coughlan. Musical guests have included Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Jorja Smith and Foo Fighters.

The series is broadcast live from London each Saturday at 10pm, with each episode featuring a host, musical guest and a rotating line-up of sketches performed by the show’s core cast.

The current cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
