Harry Judd heads to London with High School Musical after Lowry performance

Harry Judd has officially joined the cast of Disney’s High School Musical, with the McFly star now heading to London after making his debut in the role of Coach Bolton at Lowry.

Judd appeared in the final two Salford performances of the production on Saturday 19 September, taking over from Jason Donovan as Troy Bolton’s basketball coach and father. And next stop, London!

The production now transfers to Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, where Judd will continue in the role of Coach Bolton from 12 October 2026 to 3 January 2027.

The stage musical, produced by Hope Mill Theatre and Chris Harper Productions in association with Lowry, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Disney Channel movie that became a global phenomenon.

Judd joins Disney favourite KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus, alongside Tobias Turley as Troy Bolton, Leonor Correia as Gabriella Montez, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay Evans and Luke Bayer as Ryan Evans.

Also in the company are Char Burnett as Taylor McKessie, Jordan Benjamin as Chad Danforth, Simeon Beckett as Zeke Baylor, Olivia O’Connor as Martha Cox, Yna Tresvalles as Kelsi Nielsen and Curtis Patrick as Jack Scott.

Based on the 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical follows basketball star Troy and new student Gabriella after the pair discover a shared love of singing and decide to audition for their school musical.

The score includes some of the film’s best-known songs, including Breaking Free, We’re All In This Together, Get’cha Head in the Game and Stick to the Status Quo.

The production is co-directed by Hope Mill Theatre founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with choreography by Aaron Renfree. The creative team also includes set designer Andrew Exeter, sound designer Matt Peploe, video designer George Reeve, lighting designer Rory Beaton, costume designer Sophia Pardon, musical supervisor Katy Richardson and musical director Audra Cramer.

High School Musical first reached the stage in 2006, with its first professional production following in Atlanta before a US national tour launched in 2007. The musical made its London premiere at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2008. Now, almost two decades later, the Wildcats are heading back to London.

High School Musical plays Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 12 October 2026 to 3 January 2027.
