Paddington’s Big Week: New Song, New Lottery, New Cast Album

21-11-25

Paddington The Musical is settling into previews at the Savoy Theatre, and this week the team behind it have delivered a trio of updates that already have the West End talking. MatineeMusicals has the full picture.

The first reveal is a behind the scenes extract from the brand new song Rhythm of London. It arrives in two preview lengths, thirty seconds and sixty seconds, and both clips feel like a warm introduction to Paddington’s London. The sound is bright, tuneful and full of the gentle humour people expect from Michael Bond’s most beloved character. Even in these short teasers you can hear the mix of joy and sincerity that has defined the Paddington films and books for generations. It plays like a musical postcard from the city that became his home.

In the same announcement, producers Sonia Friedman Productions, STUDIOCANAL and Eliza Lumley Productions on behalf of Universal Music UK introduced a new ticket lottery priced at thirty five pounds. This will run monthly and will include stalls seats for performances across the following month. Some of these seats will be for shows that have already sold out, which gives audiences a welcome second chance at securing high demand dates. The first draw takes place on 3 December for performances throughout January 2026. Anyone who wants to enter can sign up on the official website, and it is worth checking the terms and conditions before applying.

The production recently confirmed an extension until October 2026. Tickets are available from twenty five pounds. More than forty five thousand seats have been released for under forty pounds. That figure speaks clearly to the team’s commitment to affordability. The best availability is from March 2026, and early booking is encouraged.

To complete this week’s news, the creative team have confirmed the upcoming release of the Paddington The Musical Original Cast Recording. It will arrive on Decca Records in March 2026. A collectible vinyl edition will follow in May 2026. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the full West End cast and full orchestra. The pre order link is already live for anyone who wants to secure their copy early. For a show with music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher and a book by Jessica Swale, the interest in this album is expected to be strong.

The cast includes Timi Akinyosade, Amy Booth Steele, Tarinn Callender, Delilah Bennett Cardy, Adrian Der Gregorian, Tom Edden, Brenda Edwards, Amy Ellen Richardson, Victoria Hamilton Barritt, Teddy Kempner and Bonnie Langford. Paddington himself is created on stage through a combination of puppetry and performance, delivered by Arti Shah and a team of alternating performers. The production is directed by Luke Sheppard with choreography by Ellen Kane, set design by Tom Pye and costumes by Gabriella Slade.

The story follows the arrival of a small bear from Peru who finds a new family in London. His journey through the city brings kindness, chaos and more than one sticky moment. When a villain threatens his safety, the Browns must come together to protect him. It is a tale about belonging, courage and the families we choose.

Paddington The Musical is shaping up to be one of the warmest shows of the year. Matinee Musicals will be keeping a close eye on every marmalade filled moment.
