A host of Broadway stars have come together for the new musical Alone, with a star-studded concept album released this August.

SIX star Taylor Iman Jones, Bad Cinderella‘s Linedy Genao and Maybe Happy Ending performer Zachary Noah Piser are among the performers appearing on Alone: The Concept Album, which will be released across major streaming platforms on 7 August 2026.

Written by songwriting duo John Ertman and Joseph Mathusek, Alone is a coming-of-age musical set in a close-knit American town and follows Mia, a young woman struggling with her overprotective mother and determined to take control of her own life.

When an apparent unexpected pregnancy follows a summer romance, Mia and her high school friends find themselves at the centre of local gossip, with the musical exploring independence, friendship, judgement and the realities of approaching adulthood.

The concept album takes an unusual approach to casting, with its principal characters deliberately performed by different actors across different tracks rather than having one performer play each role throughout the recording.

Alongside Jones, Genao and Piser, the extensive company includes Adi Roy, Rachel Webb, Kim Onah, Michael Nigro, Nathan Levy, Claire Kwon, Sarah-Anne Martinez, Cassidy Sledge and Ellis Gage.

Kaela O’Connor, Amanda Gabriel, Natalie Pereira, Katherine Ertman, Rachel Arianna, Harrison O’Callaghan, Jonah Ruderman, Andy Hartman and Gray Watson also feature, alongside creators Ertman and Mathusek.

The album is directed by Susanna Wolk, whose credits include & Juliet and the national tour of Waitress, with musical direction by Patrick B. Phillips.

Alexander Kariotis produces the recording, with additional music production from Mathusek, Phillips and Ertman. Orchestrations and vocal arrangements are by Mathusek and Phillips.

Alone began its development at Northwestern University’s American Music Theatre Project before going on to play sold-out concerts at New York’s 54 Below and receiving a closed industry reading in Millburn, New Jersey.

The album marks the next stage in the development of the musical, which combines contemporary pop music with musical theatre storytelling.

Ertman and Mathusek have been friends since middle school and began collaborating on Alone while at college. They are also working together on Mews: The Musical!, which is due to receive its world premiere Off-Broadway at The Tank as part of its 2026-27 Main Stage Season.  Alone: The Concept Album is playing on Matinee Musicals and available on all major streaming platforms now. Visit the official site HERE
