Tori Amos Returns with “In Times of Dragons” and Her Biggest European Tour in a Decade

06-10-25

She enchanted the National Theatre with The Light Princess, and now Tori Amos is ready to take flight once more. The 12-million-selling singer, songwriter, and composer has announced her new studio album In Times of Dragons, due spring 2026 on Universal’s relaunched Fontana label, with her largest European tour in ten years.

For fans of Amos’s musical theatre chapter, especially her daring, dreamlike score for The Light Princess, this new project feels like a continuation of that same storytelling spirit. She has always been a dramatist as much as a songwriter, weaving allegory, politics, and emotion into a vivid musical tapestry.

Amos describes In Times of Dragons as “a metaphorical story about the fight for Democracy over Tyranny,” referring to “Dictator-believing Lizard Demons” who are “burning down democracy in real time.” It is classic Tori: bold, mystical, and unafraid to mix the cosmic with the current.

The album, her eighteenth, promises a journey through resilience, awakening, and the pursuit of freedom. Longtime collaborators Jon Evans (music director and bass) and Ash Soan (drums) return, joined by Liv Gibson, Deni Hlavinka, and Hadley Kennary as backing singers to help bring the new material to life.

Fans of The Light Princess will recognise the theatrical flair that made her musical theatre debut such a favourite among Matinee readers. That 2013 National Theatre production revealed Amos’s love of myth, transformation, and melody that soars. With In Times of Dragons, she channels that same energy on a global stage, turning political commentary into performance art.

Her 2026 European tour spans 17 countries across April and May, including major UK dates in Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, and London’s Royal Albert Hall. Tickets for UK and EU shows go on sale Friday 10 October at 10am BST, with pre-sales open for fans who pre-order the album through her UK and EU stores.

From Little Earthquakes to The Light Princess, Tori Amos has always blurred the lines between concert and confession, theatre and truth. In Times of Dragons feels like another act in that same story, a woman at her piano, singing the world back into balance.
