This is the moment we’ve waited for! Disney’s The Greatest Showman is officially coming to the West End, opening at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027.

Following its sell-out run at the Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year, the brand-new stage adaptation of the hit 2017 movie will make its London premiere with Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks leading the company as P.T. Barnum and Charity Barnum.

They will be joined by Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle, Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind and Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz, with further casting still to be announced.

The stage adaptation features the Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, including “The Greatest Show”, “A Million Dreams”, “Come Alive”, “Rewrite the Stars”, “Never Enough” and “This Is Me”. Pasek and Paul have also written brand-new songs especially for the musical.

Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, whose production of Disney’s Hercules is currently playing at the same theatre, directs and choreographs, with a new book by Tim Federle.

The West End transfer follows the musical’s first full-scale production at Bristol Hippodrome, which played a sell-out run earlier this year.

Oliver Tompsett returns as P.T. Barnum following the Bristol run. His extensive musical theatre credits include Wicked, We Will Rock You, Rock of Ages, Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman and & Juliet.

Samantha Barks will once again play Charity Barnum. She previously originated Elsa in the West End production of Disney’s Frozen at Theatre Royal Drury Lane and is also known for playing Éponine in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables.

The cast also sees Back to the Future and Shucked star Ben Joyce playing Phillip Carlyle, Dutch musical theatre star Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind and Hadestown, Hercules and & Juliet performer Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz.

Disney Theatrical Group’s Anne Quart and Andrew Flatt said the film had captured audiences with its “record-breaking soundtrack”, adding: “This feels like a very special homecoming.”

Based on the 20th Century Studios film, The Greatest Showman follows P.T. Barnum as he brings together a company of performers and outsiders to create a spectacle unlike anything audiences have seen before.

The musical also marks a first for Disney Theatrical Group, becoming the first title from 20th Century Studios, formerly 20th Century Fox, to be adapted for the stage by Disney.

The original 2017 film became a global musical phenomenon, with its soundtrack spending multiple weeks at number one in the US and becoming the world’s best-selling album of 2018.

The Greatest Showman will open at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027. Performance dates and ticket on-sale details will be announced in due course, with audiences currently able to register for priority booking.
