After a sensational sold-out run at the Savoy Theatre earlier this year, and a world premiere which Matinee Musicals awarded five stars, Burlesque the Musical is heading back to the West End with a major new star attached.

Olivier Award-winning performer Cassidy Janson will lead the production as Tess Richarde when the musical opens at the brand-new The Arts at Marble Arch this September.

For audiences familiar with the original film, Tess remains one of the story’s defining figures, immortalised on screen by Cher. Bringing that role to the stage is no small challenge, but Janson arrives with serious West End pedigree, having won the Olivier Award for her performance in & Juliet and earned acclaim for productions including Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Chess, Company and Wicked.

And for Matinee audiences, Cassidy Janson is already a familiar name. Her music and performances are regularly featured across Matinee programming, making this casting feel especially exciting.

Fresh from its first London run, Burlesque the Musical has quickly established itself as one of the West End’s boldest new theatrical spectacles, packed with powerhouse vocals, jaw-dropping choreography and enough sequins to light up Marble Arch several times over.

Based on Steven Antin’s Golden Globe-winning film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher, the stage adaptation follows Ali as she arrives in New York searching for her mother, only to be pulled into the glamorous and chaotic world of Burlesque Lounge owner Tess Richarde.

The production features music by Christina Aguilera alongside songs by Sia, Diane Warren, Todrick Hall, Jess Folley and Steven Antin.

Speaking about joining the production, Cassidy Janson said: “The songs are huge, the glamour is off the charts, and the costumes are absolutely insane. The West End is not ready for this level of fabulous.”

Writer and producer Steven Antin added: “Cassidy is glamorous, funny, fierce, wildly talented — and she has the sass and heart that make Tess unforgettable.”

The new production will run at The Arts at Marble Arch from 12 September 2026 until 31 January 2027. Alongside the West End run, a major UK tour will also launch this summer from New Victoria Theatre ahead of dates across 2026 and 2027. If the Savoy Theatre premiere proved anything, it’s that Burlesque the Musical knows exactly what it wants to be: unapologetically glamorous, emotionally sincere and gloriously over-the-top in all the right ways.
