Cast News: The Hunger Games: On Stage

A new group of tributes is heading into the arena as The Hunger Games: On Stage announces its second-year company.

Elizabeth Anderson will take over as Katniss Everdeen from 23 October 2026 at the purpose-built Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, alongside Vinnie Copeland as Peeta Mellark and Nathan Stokes as Gale Hawthorne.

The new cast also brings two familiar faces from television to Panem, with EastEnders actor Neil McDermott taking on Haymitch Abernathy and Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank playing Caesar Flickerman.

Daisy Statham joins as Prim, Alix Dunmore as Mrs Everdeen, Isabel Della-Porta as Effie Trinket and Theo Ogundipe as Cinna. Hollywood star John Malkovich will continue to appear on screen as President Snow.

The incoming company will give its first performance at 2.30pm on 23 October, following the current cast’s final performance on 18 October. Returning performers include Aiya Agustin as Rue, Geo Bailey as Tippet and Alexandra Barredo as Fossa. Xanthe Gibson joins as an offstage swing and alternate Katniss, with Jason Battersby playing Cato, Myla Carmen as Clove, Montel Morrison as Thresh, Jhanaica van Mook as Glimmer and Jake Scott Newton as Marvel.

The first-ever stage adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ novel opened at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in 2025, with the 1,200-seat theatre-in-the-round created specifically for the production. Conor McPherson, whose theatre credits include Girl from the North Country and The Weir, adapted Collins’ first novel and its Lionsgate film adaptation for the stage. Matthew Dunster directs, with set design by Miriam Buether, choreography by Charlotte Broom, lighting by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph and video design by Tal Rosner. Chris Fisher provides illusions, with Kev McCurdy overseeing the production’s fight direction. The story follows Katniss after she enters the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death involving 24 young tributes, setting in motion events that will turn her into a symbol of resistance against the Capitol. The wider Hunger Games series has sold more than 100 million books worldwide, while its film franchise has grossed more than $3.4 billion globally.

The Hunger Games: On Stage is currently booking at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre until 14 February 2027.
