OH, MARY! Announces West End Premiere at Trafalgar Theatre

03-10-25

The Tony Award-winning Broadway smash Oh, Mary! will make its long-awaited West End premiere at the Trafalgar Theatre, opening on 3 December 2025 and booking until 25 April 2026.

Written by Cole Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton – both Tony Award winners for their work on the show – Oh, Mary! is a surreal, dark comedy that reimagines the forgotten dreams and suffocated life of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism and suppressed desires tumble together in this 80-minute one-act, which the New York Times hailed as “one of the best comedies in years.”

Mason Alexander Park

Mason Alexander Park stars as Mary Todd Lincoln. Known to West End audiences from Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and Jamie Lloyd’s Shakespeare productions at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Park has also appeared in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Netflix’s The Sandman and Cowboy Bebop. Their blend of biting humour and vulnerability makes them a perfect fit for Escola’s wild imagining of Mrs Lincoln.

Kate O’Donnell appears as Mary’s Chaperone. A Manchester-based performer, writer and curator, O’Donnell is well known for her autobiographical shows Big Girl’s Blouse and You’ve Changed, as well as appearances in Gypsy at the Royal Exchange and Sunset Boulevard at the Royal Albert Hall. She is also the founder of the Trans Vegas Arts Festival, bringing a unique perspective to every project.

Oliver Stockley

Oliver Stockley plays Mary’s Husband’s Assistant. His theatre credits include Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends at the Sondheim Theatre, and The Great Gatsby at the Actor’s Church. With his musical theatre and cabaret pedigree, Stockley brings flair and charm to this quirky part.

Dino Fetscher

Dino Fetscher takes the role of Mary’s Teacher. A 2021 Olivier Award nominee for The Normal Heart at the National Theatre, Fetscher’s stage work also includes Torch Song at the Turbine Theatre and As Is at Trafalgar Studios. On screen, he has starred in Years & Years and Gentleman Jack. His depth and emotional range make him a powerful presence in this off-kilter story.

Giles Terera

Giles Terera plays Mary’s Husband. Best known as the Olivier Award-winning Aaron Burr in the West End production of Hamilton, Terera’s acclaimed career spans Othello and Blues for an Alabama Sky at the National Theatre to Hamlet at Chichester Festival Theatre. His gravitas anchors the play’s mix of absurdity and poignancy.

Playwright Cole Escola is one of comedy’s most original voices. For Oh, Mary!, they received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, alongside accolades from the Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Obie Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize finalist citation. Director Sam Pinkleton also won a Tony Award for this production. Known for his inventive, irreverent style, Pinkleton’s work spans Broadway, off-Broadway and the National Theatre, including the acclaimed Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.

The creative team for London includes dots on scenic design, Holly Pierson on costumes, Cha See on lighting, Daniel Kluger and Drew Levy on sound, Leah J. Loukas on wigs, and David Dabbon on arrangements. Casting is by Stuart Burt CDG.

Oh, Mary! premiered off-Broadway in 2024 before transferring to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre, where it broke box office records and played to sold-out audiences. Now, with its West End debut, London audiences can experience the hilariously dark world of Cole Escola’s Mary Todd Lincoln – a comedy of history, heartbreak and absurdity that has already become a modern classic.
