Review: Titanique

03-07-25 Criterion Theatre by Irene Christodoulou

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the absolute joy of attending the Titanique gala night at the Criterion Theatre last night, part of the Pride in London celebrations, and I’m still buzzing. This show is an absolute blast from start to finish. I laughed so much. I danced in my seat. I couldn’t stop grinning. It’s five stars from me.

From the moment Luke Bayer stepped on stage as Jack, I was sold. He brings so much warmth, cheek and charm, and sings like a dream. Hiba Elchikhe is a knockout as Rose, completely magnetic with powerhouse vocals and comic timing that had the whole theatre howling. Richard Carson’s Cal is slick, smarmy and just camp enough to be deliciously hateable.

Carl Mullaney as Ruth? Utterly fabulous. I could watch a whole spin-off with just him, and Tosh Wanogho-Maud as the Iceberg (yes, really) gave one of the most ridiculous and iconic performances I’ve seen on the West End. It shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.

Lauren Drew is nothing short of sensational as Céline Dion. There were moments when I genuinely thought it was the real Céline up there. Her vocals are out of this world and her comedic delivery is flawless. Charlotte Wakefield and Darren Bennett return with brilliant energy, and the onstage vocal trio — Adrianne Langley, Madison Swan and Rodney Vubya — add depth to the production. This intimate theatre setting makes you feel like you’re witnessing something very special indeed.

Directed by Tye Blue, with musical supervision from Nicholas Connell and a hilarious book by Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli and Tye Blue, Titanique is one of the funniest nights out in London. It’s bold, ridiculous, heartfelt and pure joy. If you’re even thinking about it, go. You’ll have the best time. I promise.
