Wicked Celebrates 15th Birthday in London’s West End admin
03-08-26
Two Catherine Parrs collide as SIX and Hot Mess join forces for a new musical mash-up bringing together songs from the two home-grown British musicals.
Nia Stephen, who currently plays Catherine Parr in the West End production of SIX, has teamed up with Hot Mess star and former SIX queen Danielle Steers to perform a new arrangement combining “I Don’t Need Your Love” from SIX with “Happy” from Hot Mess.
The collaboration brings together two shows which began their journeys at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before going on to find success in London.
Stephen is currently making her West End debut as Catherine Parr at the Vaudeville Theatre, while Steers, who previously played the same role in SIX, currently stars as Earth in Hot Mess at The Other Palace.
The new track has been jointly arranged by Joe Beighton, musical supervisor of SIX and music supervisor and co-orchestrator of Hot Mess, alongside Hot Mess composer, lyricist and co-orchestrator Jack Godfrey.
Sam Featherstone, who previously produced the SIX UK studio album, serves as recording and mix engineer.

Danielle Steers said: “Both SIX and HOT MESS have played huge parts in my life, so to get to sing this gorgeous mash up and work with these incredibly talented people feels really special!”

Nia Stephen added: “I’m so excited for people to hear this beautiful piece of music. The whole team has been so kind and, to be honest, quite inspirational to work with.”
Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, SIX began as a student production at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 and has since become an international hit, with productions in the West End, on Broadway and around the world.
Hot Mess, created by Jack Godfrey and Ellie Coote, followed its own Fringe journey in 2025, winning a Fringe First Award, the Popcorn Writing Award and Musical Theatre Review’s Best Musical Award.
The original musical reimagines the climate crisis as a romcom between Earth and Humanity. Following runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and Southwark Playhouse, it is currently playing at The Other Palace, with Danielle Steers as Earth and Morgan Gregory as Humanity.
Toby Marlow described himself as a “long-time super-fan” of Hot Mess and its song “Happy”, saying he was “so obsessed” with the finished mash-up.
An accompanying video sees Stephen and Steers performing the new arrangement together in the recording studio.
Hot Mess runs at The Other Palace until 6 September 2026. SIX continues at the Vaudeville Theatre, where it is currently booking until 28 November 2027.
