The casting news just keeps getting better for the West End’s most unhinged First Lady.

Catherine Tate will play Mary Todd Lincoln in the Tony Award-winning smash hit comedy Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre from 27 April 2026. Booking is now extended until 18 July 2026.

She joins the production as Mason Alexander Park takes their final bow as Mary on 25 April. From 16 March 2026, Scott Karim will step into the role of Mary’s Husband, following Giles Terera’s final performance on 14 March.

Written by Tony Award-winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Pinkleton, OH, MARY! is a dark, delirious comedy that reimagines the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. In this 80-minute one-act play, Mary Todd Lincoln is miserable, stifled, yearning, and spiralling. It is history through the lens of absurdity, and it has become a genuine word-of-mouth phenomenon.

Tate is no stranger to commanding a stage. From Under the Blue Sky and Much Ado About Nothing in the West End to The Catherine Tate Show Live and her recent return to Doctor Who, she brings razor-sharp comic timing and emotional depth in equal measure. American audiences know her as Nellie Bertram in The Office, while UK fans have long adored her multi award-winning television work.

Karim, fresh from rave reviews as Smee in the RSC’s Wendy and Peter Pan, brings serious dramatic pedigree. His credits span the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Young Vic and beyond. Expect sparks.

OH, MARY! was declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times. It won Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play for Escola and Best Direction of a Play for Pinkleton, alongside major Drama League honours. After premiering off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, it transferred to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre where it broke box office records, before landing in the West End in December 2025.

If you have not yet met this chaotic, champagne-soaked Mary Todd Lincoln, now is your moment.

Performances run until 18 July 2026 at Trafalgar Theatre – we suggest you book early.
