Something WICKED this way comes — and we’ve got the first new images to prove it. Wicked: For Good, the second chapter in Jon M. Chu’s cinematic adaptation of the generation-defining musical, has unveiled a fresh look at Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, teasing the scale and emotion of what’s to come.

Following the global success of last year’s Wicked, which became the most successful Broadway film adaptation of all time, this final chapter promises an epic, electrifying and deeply emotional conclusion. The new stills offer glimpses of Elphaba, demonised as the Wicked Witch of the West and living in exile, alongside Glinda, now elevated as the glittering symbol of goodness in Emerald City. They set the tone for a film that explores friendship, fame and the fight for truth in Oz.

The returning cast reunites Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo and pop powerhouse Ariana Grande, joined by Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, and Bronwyn James as ShenShen. The starry line-up also features Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, and Sharon D. Clarke as the voice of Dulcibear.

As the story continues, Glinda revels in her palace stardom, preparing for a spectacular Ozian wedding, while Elphaba fights from the shadows to free Oz’s silenced Animals and reveal the Wizard’s secrets. But as mobs rise and Kansas comes crashing down, both women will be forced to confront their shared history — and see each other, truly and honestly, if they are to change Oz for good.

The first Wicked film, released in November 2024, grossed over $750 million worldwide and collected ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, winning for Costume Design and Production Design. With Wicked: For Good, producers Marc Platt and David Stone, alongside executive producers Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, look set to repeat the feat, bringing Stephen Schwartz’s iconic score and Winnie Holzman’s book to the screen once more. The film score will again be a collaboration between Schwartz and John Powell, adding new layers to the familiar songs.
