The sparklejollytwinklejingley new ELF cast is revealed

11-09-25

Christmas is coming early to the Aldwych. From 28 October, Elf The Musical returns to the West End with what might just be its most sparklejollytwinklejingley cast yet, bringing Buddy, Jovie and the Hobbs family to life in a strictly limited 10-week run.

Joel Montague (Hamilton, Waitress) will step into the candy-striped shoes of Buddy. Carrie Hope Fletcher, fresh from touring Calamity Jane, plays Jovie. Aled Jones MBE joins as Walter Hobbs, bringing his four-decade career in music and broadcasting to the Christmas stage.

They’re joined by Rosanna Hyland (Back To The Future The Musical) as Emily, Martyn Ellis (Wicked) as Santa, Lucinda Lawrence (9 to 5) as Deb, and Dermot Canavan (Hairspray) as Store Manager, with a full company stacked with West End favourites.

Based on the 2003 film, Elf tells the story of Buddy, the oversized elf who leaves the North Pole to find his real father in New York City. The stage version comes with songs by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer) and a book by Thomas Meehan (Hairspray, Annie) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). Expect mayhem, sugar highs, and a sleigh ride through Central Park that saves Christmas itself.

After breaking records at the Dominion Theatre in 2022 and 2023, and a Broadway return in 2024, Elf now lands at the Aldwych with a new set designed by Tim Goodchild, choreography by Liam Steel and direction from Philip Wm. McKinley. It’s shaping up to be London’s essential festive ticket.

Buddy said it best: “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
